Polarimetric Radar Image Processing

Polarimetric Radar Image Processing 3 credit 3 hours
Polarimetric radar image processing is a special application of synthetic aperture radar image analysis. Using the polarimetric scattering information of EMWave, a monochrome radar image can be extended to color image. It also provides another way to find target structure difference and classification. The course will be divided in two parts, basics and applications. The basic part will introduce synthetic aperture radar image, radar polarization descriptors, operators, and speckle statistic for polarimetric signals. The application part will focus on the famous polarimetric radar decomposition, classification methods and others.
